ONE YEAR!

Happy 1st Birthday Nathaniel. I love you with all of my heart and thank God everyday for blessing us with you. You're an amazing boy and we're so proud of you already. Thank you for being you. I love you baby. Love Mommy

Rewind to Dec. 5th, 2008..........I remember seeing that test and not believing it. I quickly ran to babycenter seeking answers to my nearly impossible to see positive pregnancy reading. As soon as I got on and posted.... Is it positive? I had 5 hits at midnight saying "Congrats" and "a line is a line, faded or not" I started crying and knew deep inside that it was positive but I was afraid to tell Naty.

I kept it a secret that whole weekend and that was so hard! Instead of telling him, "I think I'm pregnant" or "I think this test is positive" I decided to wait and head out to my doctor for a test. Forward to Monday, Dec 8th, 2008, I walk into the office with Audrey in tow and I whisper into the nurse's ear, "please don't mention the word baby or Congrats! this girl is smart! instead say negative or positive," she nodded and started the testing and before I could even start to get nervous she blurts out, "It's positive!" I was in shocked but elated at the same time. WOW! another baby.......
On the drive home I kept thinking of ways to tell Naty, can you believe that I even thought about keeping it a secret from him! LOL But as soon as he came home I told him that I had something for him and slipped him that little pink paper. He stood there just reading it and was like, huh? He thought I was kidding with him but I remember him smiling from ear to ear and it was a VERY happy day!

In 6 days...

Nate will turn 1. I've got a lot going on in my head and heart and the best way to describe it is bittersweet. Bitter because my baby is growing way too fast and sweet cause my baby is happy and healthy and I couldn't ask for anything more. I find myself getting very sad, sad because he's so independant and doesn't want to cuddle with his mama anymore. He wants to be free to roam and already makes faces at his mama's kisses. We are very blessed to have three wonderful children. In my eyes, my kids are perfect, perfect in every way and made especially for us. Each part of my children is a reflection of us, Bubbs has his Dad's legs and his Mama's big bunny teeth (hehe), Audrey has her Daddy's toes and fingers and her Mama's hair, and Nate has his Dad's huge dimples and his Mama's brains (haha). Our babies are made up of little parts of each of us and because of that it makes me love them more. I don't know how I'm gonna handle the morning that I see him as a one year old.....gulp.

CD Review

I thought I'd do some Cloth Diaper (CD) Reviews since I've tried a few. I'm really loving it this time and it's going a lot better than my first try at it. Here I'll talk about the Pros and Cons of each Diaper and talk about our FAVORITE DIPE.

SunBabies (SB)
OS Pocket Diaper. A friend told me about these diapers so I thought I'd try them since they were very cheap on Ebay. When I first got them I KNEW they'd be too small for Nate's big booty and sure enough, these puppies ran really small. On top of that they had PUL issues and they started peeling. I thought I'd notfiy the seller b/c I heard about their problem and was hoping she'd either replace them or refund my money and sure enough she admitted that they had PUL issues and gave me a good chunk of my money back. Another problem I found with these are the low rise, these tend to leak on the top b/c it's too low. At the moment, I'm not using these on Nate b/c his thighs are too big, I have them put away for now and hopefully when he starts walking and getting a lot more exercise he'll be able to fit in them again. If not, I'll prob. save them for possible future children (possible!).

Ebay Cheapies
OS Pocket Diaper. Now this diaper does NOT have a name so that is why I'm naming it (You my child, will be named......Ebay Cheapy). The same friend that told me about the SBs told me about these so I bid and won! I think it averaged out to about 4.50 a diaper. These are AMAZING and I wish I would have known about these sooner! I would have Totally bought nothing but these if I knew they were this good. I really can't think of a CON for this diaper, it's that amazing. The rise is very high, the fit is excellent and the absorbency is PERFECT. I HIGHLY recommend these.

Rumparooz (RaRz)
OS Pocket Diaper. Another great CD, the best thing about these are the fun designs. That might sound lame but these diapers are going to be his clothes during the summer so the print is VERY important. hah! I LOVE the gusset that hugs his thighs and keeps everything inside the diaper, the PUL is excellent and works great. The only problem I see with these diapers are the low rise. These aren't as low as the SBs BUT I see a problem with them in the future as Nate grows. But at the moment they work great and the rise isn't a problem yet. Also, these come with either snaps or velco (we've got snaps and they're really good).

Pic of the FB elastic

Fuzzibuns (FB)
OS Pocket Diaper. To me, these run pretty small and the snaps feel weird to me. Don't know what it is and I can't explain it but I am NOT feeling the FB love. I know so many people love them and do great with it but it's just not my favorite, it's just OK in my book. Also, the adjustable elastic isn't too friendly, I find myself fighting with these things and I just HATE the elastic.

Thirsties
OS Pocket Diaper. These work very well and I love how easy the velcro tabs are to use but the inserts are very bulky. I know that I can use one at a time but when I do that he goes through the diaper so this is our night time diaper and it's been very good for that. I'm not able to use this diaper under his regular clothes so that is why it's only used at night. I'm pretty certain that it's the insert b/c when I've used a FB insert it's never leaked so the actual shell of the diaper is wonderful but the insert gave me problems.

Bumgenius Pockets 3.0 (BG)
OS Pocket Diaper. Bottom line........BGs are the BEST! Their pockets are great, no leaking, great fit but the rise is prob. the same as the RaRz, not too high but not too low. I think if you want your money's worth you've gotta get a dipe that has a high rise so that you get the most use out of them. The new BGs that just came out have improved velcro (and snaps now!), replaceable elastic, and bigger sizes.

Bumgenius AIO (BG AIO)
AIO. An All in one is the most similar to a disposable diaper. There's no stuffing involved and the sizes run up to Large which fit Nate great! They are just the PERFECT fit and can hold so much. I love these diapers so much that I bought him one in PINK! hahaha I couldn't pass it up, the price was so cheap so I could NOT get picky about colors. But the BG AIOs are my FAVORITE FAVORITE Diapers ever!

How I wash my CDs

Everyone washes their CDs differently, there's people that let them soak overnight, double rinse at the end, double rinse in the beginning, use crazy expensive soap so I'm here to show you what works for me.

1) Fold in laundry tabs on Velcro Diapers

2) Rinse on Cold
3) Wash on HOT with 1/4 of recommended amount of soap

4) Rinse on Cold
5) Nice smelling Dipes......aaaaahhhhh

As for Drying I usually put everything in the Dryer on LOW HEAT for 15 minutes, then I take out all the shells, turn my AIOs inside out and leave the inserts for another 20 min. on LOW HEAT. It's best that you hang dry them but I don't have a clothesline (soon to change).

DIY: Cloth Baby Wipes

I found a recipe on cloth baby wipe solution and thought I'd try it. At the moment we're at 75% cloth wipes but hoping to be at 100% soon (starting today from now on). Here's the recipe:

1 cup of Distilled water (or boiled tap water)
1 tbsp baby oil
1 tbsp baby wash
1 tbsp baby lotion
2 drops of tea tree oil (this is for preventing mold)

Pour 1 cup of Water

Pour 1 Tbsp of Baby Oil

Pour 1 Tbsp of Baby Wash

Pour 1 Tbsp of Baby Lotion

Shake it good, actually don't shake it......swirl it :-) or you'll get a bunch of bubbles like me.

Get your Wipey Box and fold your Cloth Wipes in half in the box

Pour Solution on Wipes and take a BIG WHIF!

The Finished Result! I wish you could smell this!
